We are all very aware that cheating is not something that is going to go away but still, it is our responsibility to teach good ethics and a set of rules when working with our trainees. Even with putting in so much effort, we understand that it is almost impossible to eliminate cheating, especially when the learning process has gone online. However, we can still prevent students from cheating while using Moodle LMS.
Depending upon the nature of the assessment, here are the policies we enforce when delivering assessments online (some we use in combination with another)
Shuffling Answer Choices Policy
Moodle LMS allows for an automated way on shuffling multiple choices answers. Shuffling the order of the answers will make it very difficult for trainees to cheat.
Enabling Quiz Mode Settings
Moodle Quiz modes settings can be enabled which restrict trainees from using external resources while taking a quiz on the Moodle LMS. This mode will automatically disable the students’ apps, extensions, tabs, and screenshot functions.
Plagiarism Checkers
By using the Originality Report function in Moodle LMS, we can scan the works of our trainees for potential plagiarism by comparing our trainees work with content available elsewhere on the internet.
Plagiarism checkers will show us the authenticity of our trainee's assignments, which can easily help us track cheating.
